There were miles of pens on either side of the highway, many filled with groups of placid camels, watching the world go by. Me and my friend pulled up in a cab, driver by our friendly driver Umar, and walked up to a few pens to take a closer look. A couple of camels came over quickly, very friendly and curious, offering their noses and necks for scratches after checking us out for a few minutes. Only the baby camels were a bit camera shy. Some stood a bit further back, necks entwined as they looked at me with their big, dark, soft eyes. But overall they seemed very domesticated and used to strangers, happy for a little visit and some entertainment in their day.
This is me with my friend Rajko, another Canadian.
